Just like all other rumors that you might hear there are truths and fictions about health and fitness too. Myths often occur when the person doesn't get the whole tip before sharing with someone else on and on and on it goes truthful or not it's still a rumor. Maybe they even didn't hear it right. But they innocently tell something they know, and another myth is born, again. There is a greater likelihood that we will accept something as truth if we sense the person saying it is in some position to know, or has some authority. It is important that you be able to identify fact and fiction where your health is concerned. For your own sanity and interest, do this regularly.
