If you are looking for a safe, natural way to work out, you can't go wrong with running or jogging. People have been running and jogging for eons and in countries all over the world, and remember this is all before gyms and fitness machines. But today obesity has become a big problem and people are having problems because of it, and running can be a terrific way to get our waistlines back. If you are going to start a running routine, you must stick with your plan all the way through. Many people are really enthused with a running routine when they first start, but sometimes people can go overboard with it. That's when injury results and so they put running off for a few months. This isn't how you want to do it if you want to get the most out of your running routine.

Just start slow and then make sure you focus on consistency. It's best to run or jog for thirty minutes at a time, at least three days per week. Don't worry about how fast or slow you're going, especially when you're first beginning. It doesn't matter how fast you go at first, as long as you stick with it, and this is opposed to pushing too hard so that you quit because you're frustrated. Make sure you never run when you are sick or hurt, but don't mistake that for pushing yourself when you don't want to run. Jogging is great activity if you are trying to lose weight but you have to be consistent.

You will be helping yourself avoid injuries by proper cooling down or warming down from a good run. So a good rule of thumb is to start and end at a slow pace and you ease into the transition. Then it's a good idea to do some light stretches. You can help take the load off your heart by resting with your heart lower than your feet, or put your feet up, and that will take the strain off your heart and help it to relax. You can enjoy many benefits from jogging several times a week. Use your common sense when jogging, meaning remembering to stretch, wearing the right shoes, and not overdoing it. Use these tips as you start your jogging routine and soon you will be able to maintain it year round.
